Dear AHC Academy Families,
Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
Welcome to a new and exciting year at Abu Huraira Center Academy! Alhamdulillah, we are grateful to Allah ﷻ for bringing us together once again and giving us the opportunity to begin another year of learning, growth, and development. We look forward to welcoming our returning students, meeting our new students, and working alongside our parents, guardians, teachers, and the wider community.
As we begin this new academic year, let us renew our intentions and remember that education is about far more than grades, assignments, and academic achievement. At AHC Academy, we strive to nurture the whole child—developing students in their knowledge of the Qur’an and Sunnah, their character and manners, and their academic understanding of the world around them.
Our tradition places tremendous value on beneficial knowledge. Allah ﷻ tells us:
“Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge by degrees.”
(Qur’an 58:11)
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also said:
“Whoever takes a path upon which to obtain knowledge, Allah makes the path to Paradise easy for him.”
(Jamiʿ al-Tirmidhi 2646)
These teachings remind us that knowledge, when sought sincerely and put into practice, is an act of worship. Our goal, therefore, is not simply to produce students who know more, but students who understand why they learn, how they should use what they learn, and who they should become as a result of that knowledge.
We want our children to grow with a strong foundation in their deen, while also developing the literacy, mathematics, sciences, social studies, STEAM, critical thinking, communication, and other academic skills necessary to navigate and contribute positively to the world around them. We want them to be confident Muslims who can engage with the world without losing sight of their purpose, values, identities and responsibilities.
This is part of what we mean when we speak about holistic education. A successful student is not defined solely by academic achievement. We hope to cultivate students who are knowledgeable, sincere, disciplined, compassionate, courageous, trustworthy, and conscious of Allah ﷻ. We want them to recognize that their talents and education are an amanah and that knowledge carries with it responsibility.
Our aspiration is to help nurture tomorrow’s leaders—not simply leaders in title or position, but young people who are prepared to lead themselves, serve their families, strengthen their communities, and contribute meaningfully to society. We pray that our students will grow into individuals who carry the principles of Islam with wisdom and excellent character wherever Allah ﷻ takes them.
The scholars of our tradition have long emphasized that true education involves both knowledge and character. Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله, in his writings on tarbiyah, emphasizes the importance of nurturing and cultivating a person toward what is beneficial. This is the spirit in which we approach our responsibility as educators: to teach, to nurture, to guide, and to help our students develop into the best versions of themselves, by the permission of Allah.
As parents and educators, we share this responsibility. The Prophet ﷺ reminded us that each person is a shepherd and each person is responsible for those under their care. Our children’s development is therefore a partnership between home, school, and community. When we work together with sincerity, consistency, and a shared vision, we create an environment in which our children can thrive—academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.
As we embark on this new chapter, let us encourage our children to approach each day with sincerity, curiosity, perseverance, gratitude, and a desire to benefit others. May this be a year in which our students grow not only in what they know, but also in who they are.
May Allah ﷻ place barakah in our efforts, increase our children in beneficial knowledge, grant them excellent character, and make them a source of benefit for their families, their communities, and the Ummah. May He allow us to nurture a generation that is firmly grounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah while equipped with the knowledge and skills to positively contribute to the world around them. And may He grant us success in this life and, ultimately, success in the Hereafter. Ameen.
